Build A Career In Child Care

Zia Kalong | Nov 20, 2018

What is the Au Pair program?

Vision International Philippines offers the Au Pair program to selected young people who are given the opportunity to experience the U.S. and learn about American culture as they live with an American host family and assist with childcare.  Aside from the United States, our Au Pair program is also available in Europe for interested applicants.

Most of our Au Pair participants are college students who joined the program to earn multicultural exposure and advance their professional career. Au Pair is often wrongly perceived as resembling domestic help when in truth, the two are completely different, if not opposites, from each other. An Au Pair becomes part of the host family and serves as model for the kids they care for. Successful applicants are even given the choice of the type of child care - infants, toddlers, or special needs - in accordance, of course, with their work experience. Au Pairs are also guaranteed to have a 2-week paid vacation, 30 days for travel at the end of the program, and free accommodation. Although they do help out with housework, their true purpose is childcare, which is why Au Pairs must be genuinely passionate about and patient with kids.

Why choose Au Pair?

The Au Pair experience is unique and fulfilling. Living with an American host family is in itself a great learning opportunity that can expand your knowledge and improve your English-speaking skills. Among its benefits are a 5-day training in New York at the Au Pair Academy and educational allowance. If you’re looking for an exciting way to earn more while immersing yourself in American culture,  the program is a great option. Au Pairs, on average, earn a weekly stipend of $195.75 or P10,540 and are also provided with a roundtrip airfare.

Who are qualified to become an Au Pair?

High school graduates who can converse in English and are in good health are very welcome to apply. Considerable professional experience with  childcare, amounting to 300 hours or more, is also necessary. Naturally, one must be committed to living with an American family and genuinely enjoy taking care of children.
