Corey Thomas is a Louisiana native, born and raised in Monroe, a small town in northeast Louisiana. Corey’s journey began in Birmingham where he studied and began a career in biomedical research. After gaining a few years of experience, Corey went west to Denver to continue his career. Although Corey’s journey in the kitchen had not yet begun, he carried his love for Louisiana culture and cuisine that was part of his heritage everywhere he went. In 2017, Corey transferred to Domenica to learn about Italian cuisine before traveling to Italy for his own wedding. He fell in love with the food and culture of Italy during his travels, and upon returning home made his transfer a permanent position…

Opened in August 2015, Willa Jean celebrates Southern sensibilities with fresh, local ingredients. Named after Chef Partner Kelly Fields’ grandmother, who inspired her to pursue her passions, the restaurant and bakery serves breakfast, lunch and dinner throughout the week, and offers Saturday and Sunday brunch. The modern elegance of the dining room lends its charm to Fields’ haven of Southern-inspired dishes and sets the stage for the playful, nostalgic nature of the ever-evolving menu. Willa Jean’s menus are categorized by “snacks,” “the biscuit situation,” “sandwiches,” “hot plates,” and “desserts” and showcase everything from fluffy biscuits topped with fried chicken and tabasco honey to…

The club first opened in 1908. Originally it occupied an 18-hole course southeast of downtown Houston. The country club moved to its current Tanglewood location in 1957. The former Houston Country Club was renamed the Houston Executive Club. The City of Houston purchased the Houston Executive Club in 1972 and renamed it the Gus Wortham Golf Course. Claudia Feldman of the Houston Chronicle said that in the 1960s Tanglewood residents mainly went to Houston Country Club exclusively, and that this was an example of the community's "clubby atmosphere".…

I would say that of the whole experience, I enjoy the training the most because we’re learning so much. But getting to know other trainees of different nationalities has been really fun too!

Au Pair:
Iris Kay Policarpio

My experience here is so memorable! I have a very kind and supportive host family and very sweet host children. I am so happy to be here and right now, we are in their vacation house in Tahoe Donner, which is about 5hrs drive from San Francisco. I really feel that I am part of their family.

Teachers:
Jefferson Navas

Math Teacher, Arizona, USA
The program is amazing. I am learning about the traditions and cultures of India, Germany, Korea, and of course America because of my co-teachers (from around th world)
The program gave me a good opportunity to know the educational system and student body here in the US and I am happy to experience being part of their culture with my co-teachers, students and administrators. I feel positive and glad to be part of this program.

Work and Travel:
Gillian Melgar

Room Attendant Intern, Meritage Resorts and Spa, California
The work and travel program is perfect for anyone who loves adventure and learning. I myself joined the program because I wanted to see the Golden Gate Bridge and visit and wineries of Napa Valley and Sonoma!
I'm just a curious student and a wanderer who wanted to spend her summer break in a productive way.
